Simona Čupić is Professor at the Department of Art History, University of Belgrade. Her fields of research and teaching include modern art in the US and Europe. She is particularly interested in the visual and popular culture between 1920s and 1960s. She is the author of Mona Lisa & Superman. John F. Kennedy and the New Frontier of the Culture (ICOM Serbia best book of the year award, 2016), Elain de Kooning. Portraits (with Brandon Brame Fortune, Ann Eden Gibson, 2015), and Bourgeois Modernism and Popular Culture. Episodes of the Fashionable, Faddish and Modern (1918-1941) (2011), among others. Simona Cupic was a visiting scholar at Art History Department, UC Berkeley in 2018-19 and 2012-13, and her research has been supported by grants and fellowships from the Fulbright Program (Rice University), the Getty Foundation, the Harry Ransom Centar, and Sasakawa Tokyo Foundation. She is one of the founders of the Center for American Studies at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade (2018).
