Bio
“Christine Theunissen (2020) earned her B.A. in Art History from UCLA (’15) and M.A. in Islamic Art and Architecture from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst (’18). Her research areas include Early Modern and Modern art and architecture of Iberia, North Africa and Latin America, specifically the way these regions and their artists were brought together through colonialism, civil war, and exile. Through graduate study she aims to elucidate questions related to temporalities of acculturation, and which can connect art and representational idioms across centuries. Before joining the Ph.D. program she worked as an independent higher education consultant and as Public Programs and Marketing/Events Coordinator for the TSB Bank Wallace Arts Center in Auckland, New Zealand.”
