History of Art offers our heartiest congratulations to PhD student Tausif Noor for winning not one but two recent prestigious awards for excellence in art writing! Tausif received an Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant in 2022 to support short-form writing And, he has been named a winner of a 2023 Dudley Prize for Art Writing (alongside our own T. J. Clark, Professor Emeritus, History of Art Department, UC Berkeley). The judges praised Noor's historical insights in particular, citing his “exhaustively researched essays on a wide array of subjects” which “seamlessly intertwine considerations of aesthetics and production with an admirable sensitivity to the contexts of history and personality.”
