Assistant Professor Lauren Kroiz received a Wyeth Foundation for American Art Publication Grant from the College Art Association for her book Cultivating Citizens: The Regional Work of Art in the New Deal Era. Thanks to a generous grant from the Wyeth Foundation, these awards are given annually to publishers to support the publication of one or more book-length scholarly manuscripts in the history of American art, visual studies, and related subjects. For this grant program, “American art” is defined as art created in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The Department of History of Art at UC Berkeley is enormously pleased to announce that Patricia Berger (Professor of Chinese Art) has been awarded the 2016 College Art Association Distinguished Teaching of Art History Award. This award honors Professor Berger's many significant contributions to undergraduate and graduate mentoring. CAA will formally recognize its Awards for Distinction honorees at a special awards ceremony to be held during Convocation at the 104th Annual Conference in Washington, DC, on Wednesday evening, February 3, 2016, 5:30–7:00 PM.  

Five members of the Department will present papers at the College Art Association's annual meetings in New York, February 11-14, 2015.  

Professor Margaretta Lovell  has been awarded the College Art Association's prestigious award for Distinguished Teaching of Art History.  She will receive her award at the Convocation of the 2014 College Art Association meetings in Chicago this February.  Congratulations!
