    Art of Latin America

    This class is an introduction to art, architecture, and visual culture made in Latin America, or made by Latin American and Latina/o artists living elsewhere. We will study selected artworks and artists from ancient, colonial, revolutionary and modern periods with a special focus on the ways that artists have invoked the past and also forged new directions. The class will visit campus and Bay Area museums with related collections. This course is designed for majors and non-majors with interests in art history, art practice, architecture and environmental design, anthropology, archaeology, ethnic studies, etc. No prerequisites.
